During twenty-six years in private practice, Barrett Pope has represented clients in a variety of commercial lawsuits in state and federal courts. Mr. Pope has been named in Virginia Business magazine's  "Legal Elite" in the category of Civil Litigation. He has also been included in the area of Business Litigation as a Super Lawyer by Law & Politics magazine.

A UVA law professor and commentator described one of Mr. Pope's  cases, Tazewell Oil Company v. United Virginia Bank, 243 Va. 94, 413 S.E. 2d 611 (1992), as "perhaps one of the most complex cases litigated in the modern era" in Virginia.

Mr. Pope has written numerous appellate briefs and argued before the Virginia Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

He Chairs the Commercial Litigation Practice Group section for the Network of Leading Law Firms, of which DurretteBradshaw is a member.

Personal Background:

Receiving his law degree in 1981 from the University of Richmond, Mr. Pope  was a member of the Law Review, the National Moot Court team, and Omicron Delta Kappa. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1975 with a degree in Commerce. Mr. Pope has been married for thirty-one years and has two children.
