Harlan L. Horton focuses his practice in virtually every aspect of corporate law and estate planning.

Mr. Horton counsels numerous businesses within Farmville and its surrounding counties in a variety of commercial and transactional matters.

For example, he currently serves as lead counsel to the Poplar Hill Community Development Authority--one of the most significant economic development initiatives in the history of Southside Virginia. This multi-million dollar, 1060-acre development project involves the construction of a Curtis Strange Signature golf course--built in conjunction with golf architects Rick Robbins & Associates of Cary, North Carolina--and a residential component which will complement the 123-room Poplar Hill Conference Resort.

In addition to his law practice, Mr. Horton serves his community as a member of the Farmville Town Council.

Mr. Horton has been selected by his peers as one of Virginia's "Legal Elite," according to Virginia Business magazine, in cooperation with the Virginia Bar Association.

Personal Background:

Mr. Horton obtained his J.D. in Law from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1991; and his B.A. from Hampden-Sydney College in 1988.

He has served as an Adjunct Professor in Law and Economics and as an Adjunct Professor in Business Law at Longwood University.
