On February 4, 2010, the legal community lost one of its finest members—Bruce Montgomery Marshall. Bruce received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law. He practiced with DurretteBradshaw PLC since 1987 and served as its Managing Director for the past decade.
Bruce was recognized by his peers in Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and the Legal Elite and was AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Bruce was active in all aspects of the law, from the invaluable mentoring he provided to young attorneys to his distinguished service for two terms on the Virginia State Bar Council.
But to those who knew him, Bruce was simply a wonderful human being who practiced law with dignity, grace and integrity. In an age of declining civility in litigation, Bruce was always a gentleman. He was genuine in all he did and said and that rare trait changed every life he touched.
All of us at DurretteBradshaw will be forever grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Bruce and to have had the privilege to call him our friend. His courageous nine-year battle against cancer was truly inspirational. We will miss him more than words can describe, but his influence on the culture of our firm will live with us forever.
